What is the history of the evolution of theme parks?

Theme parks evolved from traveling or periodic fairs, pleasure gardens, and exhibitions such as world fairs. In the 18th and 19th centuries, they evolved into places of entertainment where the public could view freak shows, acrobatics, conjuring, and juggling. The first permanent enclosed entertainment area was the Sea Lion Park at Coney Island in Brooklyn, one of the first to charge for rides and admissions.

Today, a modern theme park is an amusement park that has a thematic design and within each theme, there are elaborate parks, playgrounds, structures, and attractions. These theme parks are usually divided into different areas consisting of a variety of rides and activities with different levels of difficulties and interests to cater to individuals of all ages.
