The wait finally ended for all Malaysians as Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced in a statement by the palace that he would be appointed as Malaysia’s next prime minister.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was announced as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister in a statement released by the palace earlier this afternoon as consented by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement today that the appointment of the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, was made under Article 40(2)(a) and Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
The decision was reached after His Majesty deliberated on the opinions of the Malay Rulers who assembled today at Istana Negara for a special meeting to make the best decision for the country and its people.
“His Majesty also reminded all parties that the winners do not win all, and the losers do not lose all.” stated the Istana Negara official statement.
The swearing-in ceremony and presentation of the instrument of appointment will be held at Istana Negara today at 5 pm.
