We all know Roti John, the popular omelette sandwich and most sought-after food during Ramadan. But have you heard of Roti Jane? If you have yet to try Roti Jane, this is your call to try this unique street food!

Introducing Roti Jane in Shah Alam! Inspired by the legend Roti John, this food is definitely for those who love the flavour and texture of Roti John.
The stall in Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, runs by Asgar Bin Sulaiman with his family. He is from Tawau, Sabah but currently lives in Shah Alam. Where is the exact location of this ever-so-popular stall? It is located in front of Tirai Kayangan Restaurant and Polperro Steak House.

The menu can be easily distinguished from its added fried chicken skin. Asgar also lightly torches the chicken and beef meat for a good kick of smokiness. The crunchy texture of the chicken skin and soft bun match perfectly, creating an incredible aftertaste you cannot get enough of.
However, since Roti John is widely known, he did not want to be equated with the famous Ramadan food. Hence he changed the name to Roti Jane. Asgar also changed some of the ingredients in the recipe.

Let’s check out the menu! Cheese Cartel is the one for you if you are a first-time buyer and love cheese because of the cheesy mozzarella. Remember to eat the food within 5 minutes, not the cheese will be hardened. If you cannot enjoy it immediately, worry not because you can pop it in a microwave for a quick heat up. More menus are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Just look at that good old cheese stretch! Looks so appetising, right?!

Not a fan of cheese? You can also enjoy the Chicken Dinner or Beefantastic menu for a fulfilling late-evening snack. Even without cheese, this Roti Jane still tastes fantastic!

Crowds could be seen gathered and waiting for their orders, so it is best for you to plan your visit ahead to avoid waiting too long. Orders were also made prior to its opening, indicating this stall is definitely among people’s favourite spots in Seksyen 7.

MCO hit hard on everyone, regardless of their status and occupation. The idea of Roti Jane was born due to Asgar’s unstable income after the MCO period when Ramadan was around the corner.
He felt like running a business would be more suitable for him, so he thought of something that people always find during Ramadan, and one of them is Roti John.
Asgar also encourages all business owners to keep going and try finding a menu they are confident in. He also said that the power of social media can help give your business exposure. Even though they are short videos on TikTok, keep posting because we will not know what will happen the next day.
Here is the menu we recommend:
