Over 3.8 million vehicles are expected to hit the roads during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday that will begin this weekend.

Public Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that given the increase in traffic volume, multiple initiatives have been taken by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) to make sure traffic will flow smoothly and the road users’ safety during this festive period.
Op Selamat is included, which has already been carried out since last Friday with the cooperation of the police. He said that Op Bersepadu will launch today with the Road Transport Department’s cooperation.
He also added LLM and the concession companies will operate around the clock with additional staff on duty.
The toll collection system will be ensured to be working well, and additional lanes will be provided to reduce congestion at toll plazas, the Public Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said in an interview.
Tow trucks would also be available at certain locations to assist in the event of an accident, he said.
To minimise disturbing traffic flow, he added that construction and maintenance activities, including lane closures, would be halted from this Friday until next Wednesday.
Plan your trip wisely to avoid getting stuck in traffic!
