Thaipusam is a Hindu festival honouring the Hindu deity Lord Murugan (the youngest son of Shiva and his wife, Parvati). Large-scale festivities are held at the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves, close to Kuala Lumpur.
