Why is it called Takoyaki?
In the past, Takoyaki became famous in Osaka, Japan because a street vendor named Tomekichi Endo was inspired by the food akashiyaki ( a round dumpling from the Hyogo Prefecture) that was made from batter and octopus. In the 1930s when Tomekichi first started making Takoyaki, there were beef and konjac but with time, he switched to using the traditional octopus with flavoured batter ever since then.
Choosing the right pan
With so many different options of takoyaki pans to choose from, it may be overwhelming. Below we gathered some factors for you to consider before making your purchase for the perfect takoyaki pan.
