Top 18 Kopitiam For White Coffee In Ipoh 2025

White coffee is the best drink in Ipoh, not only tourists, but locals also always like to have a cup of white coffee anytime, anywhere. When the weather is cold, we want a cup of hot white coffee; when the weather is hot, we opt for a cup of cold or iced white coffee. For Ipohans, the white coffee in Ipoh is the best because they can’t find the same taste in other areas.

Ipoh is named one of the top three coffee towns by Lonely Planet. This proves that the saying of Ipohans is not wrong. Anyhow, don’t be cheated by the name as the colour of white coffee is actually not white. It is named white coffee because the people would call it “coffee plus white”, which means coffee with sugar and condensed milk.

What is white coffee?

White coffee originated from Ipoh, where it is made from the coffee beans roasted in margarine and served with sweetened condensed milk. The roasting technique of white coffee beans makes the coffee beans to be roasted to a lighter colour. Years ago, it is usually served by Hainanese kopitiam because it was the Hainanese who modified the Western coffee.

There is a special aroma from white coffee, different from the Italian or Western style of coffee. Ipoh white coffee tastes sweet and creamy, suitable for those who can’t take on the bitterness and sourness of coffee. Sometimes, you can taste a slight caramelised flavour too.
