The Merdeka 118 skyscraper, labelled the world’s 2nd tallest building, has been breached and trespassed again. This time around, a group of daredevils with the purpose of creating content for their social media channel.
“Hopefully we don’t get hit by lightning,” one of the climbers said in a seven-minute and 18 seconds video.
A full video documenting the trespassing was uploaded to their YouTube channel, Driftershoots, on 30th Dec 2022.
According to the video, four people can be seen with their faces censored, sneaking into the site while dressing in construction workers’ outfits.
They cut into the tarpaulin that was restricting their way and crawled through small openings to reach the stairs leading to the top floor.
In the video, they also encountered lightning flashes and thunder while climbing up to the peak of the building.
“A number of attempts had already ended in prison time for certain individuals so we knew we were up against heavy odds.
“The trip ended successfully and it’s a gift to be ending the year showing the footage.
“This video is an artistic expression of freedom done for love, I do not encourage anybody to recreate the actions shown in this video,” stated the Driftershoots YouTube channel in the video description.
They also could be seen “celebrating” their success in the video after taking pictures of the Merdeka 118 skyscraper in their hotel room.
PNB Merdeka Ventures stated in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 10) that the event occurred on 1st May 2022 and that the trespassers were detained by police and charged on the same day.
Reminder! The local community and tourists should not recreate the actions as it is both dangerous and illegal, as you can be charged with trespassing.
