Tips To Grow Your Own Veggies | A Money-Saving Hack

Wait! Before cooking your veggies, you can actually take a few of them and regrow it! This way you will be able to save money! Cool right? This works for a few types of veggies like onions, lettuces, cabbages and more. In this article, we will show you three examples; regrowing onions, lettuces and cabbages, but do feel free to experiment with other veggies!

1. REGROW ONIONS

Cut the bottom part of the onion.

Submerge the bottom part in water. (if you notice it getting rotten don’t worry, throw it out and try with another onion)

After 10 days, you can see the onion leaves have grown longer.

2. REGROW LETTUCE

Slice the bottom part of the lettuce.

Submerge the bottom part in water.

After 3 days you can see a little cute leaf growing.

After 10 days, you can see the leaves have grown longer.

3. REGROW CABBAGE

Slice the cabbage so you only have the core

Submerge the bottom part in water. You can use toothpicks to keep it upright and above the water.

After 5 days, you can see the leaves growing. You will also notice it grows not from the middle like the onion and lettuce, but on the sides.

After 10 days, you can see the leaves and roots have grown.

4. MAKE THE SELF WATERING PLANTER

Cut a bottle into a ratio of 4:6, where the longer part is the bottom part.

Cut any excess part if necessary.

It should then look something like this.

Make a hole through the lid.

Put a clean wet wipe through it.

Fill the top with soil.

Then plant the vegetables that you had submerged in water for 10 days.

Fill up the bottom part with water to the point where the soil does not touch the water. The wet wipes help to transport the water to the soil.

You can try these with various other vegetables. Transferring them in soil helps them grow faster. You can then harvest the leaves.
